In January of 2013, I received a message from a dear childhood friend of mine asking if I would make her wedding bouquet out of found objects, leather, and burlap.
"Hey crafty friend, I'm getting married (really small only our folks) and was wondering if you would be interested in helping me make a bouquet? I'd like fishing stuff on it, rustic and earthy. Let me know if you'd like to help or if you even have the time you busy lady!" ~Theresa
Now, there are three things that were true, at this point in time:
I had never made a wedding bouquet before.
I had never made flowers out of any material before, let alone leather.
I was really excited to try my hand at both of these tasks!
So, I dove head first into my initial project and I completely lost myself in it...in the best sense of the expression. I was immersed in the creation and discovery of learning a new craft and surprised even myself with the results.
About a year and a half later, two other good friends of mine approached me about creating the bouquets for their wedding; only this time the order was for six bouquets (one for the bride and one for each of the five bridesmaids)!
Another year after that, the groom from the above mentioned wedding commissioned me to make another bouquet to surprise his wife of one year with, in celebration of their first wedding anniversary. Directly following the completion of that bouquet (and the sharing of a handful of photos of said bouquet), I received inquiries from three future brides-to-be within the same day. Hence, this website was created.
And the rest, as they say, is history!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. I hope that we can work together to create something truly original and everlasting for your special event.
Sincerely, Rachel Founder of (and artist behind) Faux Fleurs
